Diabetes Nurse Educator Julie Harvey – Chatham

Julie Harvey was born in Port Stanley, Ontario and moved to Chatham at the age of nine.

After spending some time away from south-western Ontario, Julie says she is grateful that she has been able to set down roots in Chatham with her husband to raise their children.

She says she was inspired to pursue a career in the health care sector because she enjoys working with people and assisting them to optimize their health. Throughout her career she has worked as a geriatric case manager at the Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre, a professor in the Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse, Personal Support Worker and Developmental Service Worker programs at St. Clair College’s Thames Campus, and as a community visiting nurse for Paramed Home Health Care.

As a member of the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team, Julie works as a diabetes nurse educator, assisting adults with Type 1 or 2 Diabetes to optimize their lives in an effort to prevent long-term diabetes-related complications.

She is currently studying to obtain her Certified Diabetes Educator status.
