Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and Chatham-Kent Family Health Team Welcomes New Family Physician
Chatham-Kent: April 18, 2013 — Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) and the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team welcome a new family physician to the community.
Dr. Manjula Balasundaram (referred to as Dr. Manjula) relocated to Chatham-Kent with her family from the U.K. earlier this year. She worked as a family physician for a number of years before coming to our community. She graduated from medical school from her home country of India.
After arriving in Chatham in early January, her husband began his practice at CKHA as a paediatric anaethestist. They have a young daughter and the whole family is enjoying their new community. “We moved here earlier this year and have settled nicely in the community. Everyone has been very friendly. We were drawn to Chatham-Kent because of the sense of community and we believe it is a great place to raise our family. I am very excited to start my practice and meet my patients.”
Chatham-Kent Family Health Team Lead Physician, Dr. Jason Denys, is thrilled with the recruitment of Dr. Manjula. “Dr. Manjula will be joining the current 19 physicians within our Family Health Team and be providing comprehensive primary care to patients who currently do not have a physician. She is an energetic and experienced family physician who we are excited to have join our team and improve primary care access for patients in the Chatham Kent region.”
“This is fantastic news for Chatham-Kent. We are aware of the need for family physicians and are continually recruiting for the people who do not have a family physician. Dr. Manjula is a great asset to the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team and our community. We are thrilled to have her and her husband as part of our medical community,” said Dr. Martin Lees, VP Medical Affairs/Chief of Staff, CKHA.
