Dr. Rachel Simmons – Ridgetown

Dr. Simmons is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, where she also attended medical school.

Frustrated with the U.S. medical system, Simmons and her Canadian-born husband began looking to settle in south-western Ontario.

"The Canadian healthcare model appealed to me, plus my husband grew up in Woodstock, and having family nearby is important to us,'' she said, in a media release.

Their search led them to Ridgetown and the Howard Mutual Community Medical Centre, which is part of the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team.

"The Ridgetown centre was opening and I saw that it would be a great place to live and work,'' she said.

"I really enjoy the beautiful area.''
