The Howard Mutual Medical Centre was established through the vision and generosity of the people of Ridgetown and surrounding area, with the goal of ensuring access to a modern, state-of-the-art healthcare facility within the local community.

As part of the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team, the Medical Centre plays a vital role in enhancing primary care services for residents. It brings together a collaborative team of family physicians, a nurse practitioner, and registered nurses, working together to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care.

Beyond primary care, the Centre also serves as a hub for health education and multidisciplinary support services. Patients benefit from access to professionals such as dietitians, social workers, chiropodists, and a diabetes care team, all contributing to a more integrated approach to community health.

The Howard Mutual Foundation was created to oversee the fundraising efforts that made the Medical Centre possible, with support from Howard Mutual Insurance, local citizens, and area businesses. Today, the Foundation continues its commitment to the community by leasing the Medical Centre to the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team and ensuring its long-term sustainability.

Through ongoing donations and generated revenues, the Foundation has developed several key funding programs designed to support and enhance healthcare in the region. These include initiatives focused on community development, medical student financial assistance, capital maintenance and building improvements, and the expansion of medical services.

Together, these efforts help ensure the Howard Mutual Medical Centre remains a strong, sustainable resource for the health and well-being of Ridgetown and area for years to come.
